Model Secondary Schools Project

Linda MacDonald and Ron MacDonald are the principal partners of the Model Secondary Schools Project. We have worked together on school development since 1997 and bring passion and experience in education policy, school administration, instruction, cognition, and technology to our work. We have selected urban schools as our targeted clients because of a personal commitment to contributing to the resolution of the social justice issues and a professional commitment to improving the outcomes for urban students by expanding the scope and intensity while tightening the focus of efforts to improve urban schools.

Linda MacDonald is Co-Director of Model Secondary Schools Project with
Core Responsibilities for:
        • Leadership coaching and development
        • Development of school management and operations
        • Professional development in leadership and school culture
        • Resource management and budgeting
        • Instructional oversight and improvement strategies

Linda facilitated design, implementation and fiscal management of a $5.5 million grant to create model small schools in eight urban districts across the Nation. Previously she served as Founding Principal for Washington’s first K12 online school which has served students for the last 14 years. The school was founded in a large school district in the state of Washington and serves students in Washington tuition free and students outside of Washington on a tuition basis.

As a former K12 teacher, counselor and principal Linda’s interests are to serve as a change agent for effective and equitable transformation in urban education through development of innovative strategies and materials, development of blended learning experiences, group facilitation and technical assistance, resource and knowledge management, broadening the scope of options available to school and district teams, and Executive Coaching of Administrators at the school and district level.

Ron MacDonald is Co-Director of Model Secondary Schools Project with
Core Responsibilities for:

· Strategic planning and development

· Technology and school support systems

· Professional development in instructional technology, change management and
instructional practices

· Support for planning and implementation teams

· Communications

Ron has taught at all levels from kindergarten through college and had the pleasure of working with people in numerous settings in developing and implementing innovative solutions to address challenging problems. Ron has typically worked in flexible roles where his training and experience in education, media, communications and technology have provided opportunites to facilitate the efforts of teams to broaden their understanding, build their skills, try new approaches, recognize how well they are doing, and find new solutions to old and new problems. His roles in education include technology/media director, curriculum developer, professional development coordinator, teacher, artist-in-residence and instructional television producer/director.
