About MSSP |
|
In this work we have had the opportunity to meet and learn from the whole scope of the education community. Seminars, conferences, workshops, one on one dialogs, hallway conversations and correspondence in which we have been observers, participants, facilitators, speakers, and event organizers, that have included people associated with every role in education from prominent education leaders to students wandering the high school basement while cutting class. From this we have learned many things that have allowed us to build a broad contextual understanding of the widely varying climate that districts, schools, principals, teachers, education agencies and families must juggle in pursuit of student success. We entered this role as educators with unique reputations for understanding the potential of technology in education. Together we built an online K-12 public school that grew rapidly and challenged many fundamental assumptions about how schools operate. In that context we also found ourselves working through the challenges of handling new instructional strategies, the need to establish standards and support systems to create, publish and maintain digital curricular content or contract with those who could. These opportunities have led us to the position we are in today of advising and providing technical assistance to districts, schools and education organizations. We bring to school and district teams a combination of skills to address the many facets of the challenges facing urban schools. Primary elements of the work we engage in: · Setting clear milestones for progression toward the project’s outcomes. · Establishing ways to measure and inform progress along the way. · Engaging teams in exploring and developing solutions that address the core challenge of closing achievement gaps facing today’s students. · Providing technical assistance, coaching and development resources to assist leaders and teams in clarifying their goals and strategies and effectively implementing their plans. · Maintaining a focus on and being guided by the intended and unintended impacts on students. |
